Veterinary Practice Manager

About the Job
Experienced Veterinary Practice Manager is preferred; however, an aspiring and confident person with considerable experience in veterinary medicine, even though not as a Practice Manager, will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative & Operational Oversight:
  • Manage day-to-day hospital operations, including staffing, scheduling, inventory, vendor management, and facility maintenance.
  • Develop and implement hospital policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable California Veterinary Medical Board, Cal/OSHA, and labor law regulations.
  • Oversee inventory ordering and cost control measures.
  • Supervise facility cleanliness and equipment functionality.
  • Assist with technical/nursing tasks as required.
  • Oversee client service to optimize the influx of clients.

Financial Management:
  • Manage budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Work with accountants and bookkeepers on monthly reconciliations and tax filings.

Human Resources:
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management for all staff.
  • Maintain legally compliant employee records and ensure adherence to California labor law (meal breaks, rest periods, wage statements, etc.).
  • Foster a positive and respectful workplace culture.
  • Conduct staff meetings and training initiatives.

Client Service & Marketing:
  • Maintain excellent client service standards and resolve escalated client concerns.
  • Support community outreach, social media, and local marketing initiatives.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Candidate must have a flexible schedule.
  • Candidates with at least one year of experience or those aspiring to work in veterinary management, hospital administration, or multi-site practice coordination are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Working knowledge of California labor regulations and OSHA safety standards.
  • Ideal candidates will have proficiency in veterinary software Idexx Neo and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets, scheduling, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
